Human Rights Campaign hosts meet and greet with New York Congresswoman Yvette Clarke

On Saturday, the Greater NY Steering Committee hosted a Meet & Greet with our friend, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, in her district in Brooklyn. The meet and greet was held at neighborhood gay bar mainstay, Excelsior. HRC was joined at the meet and greet by openly gay NYC Council candidates Bob Zuckerman and Yetta Kurland, senior board members and members of the Stonewall Democrats of NYC & Lambda Independent Democrats ("LID") (Brooklyn's LGBT Democratic club), among about 30 others. Greater NY Wins Big at March 2008 DC Training Weekend

Each March, HRC volunteers from across the country gather in Washington, DC for a weekend of topnotch training in the areas such as community and membership events, gala dinners, fund raising, political activism, and diversity outreach.  At the 2008 awards dinner, which culminated the weekend, the Greater New York steering committee walked away with more trophies than ever before. 

Winning awards in eight categories demonstrates our growing success and effectiveness as one of over 40 steering committees across the country.  In the photo, the Steering Committee gathers on stage with their awards and “Big Appletini” glasses.

Spotlight on Membership & Community Events Committee

The Membership and Community Events Committee has been reenergized for 2007.The group has dedicated itself to expanding HRC’s outreach to the Greater NY community to grow and diversify HRC’s membership by providing new and existing members with fun, concrete ways to engage. This year has seen the introduction of several initiatives, including HYPE, the Women’s Initiative, and the expansions of our Pride Activities and Regional events. Read More »
